We’re kicking off our first Life Science Venture Program education session of the year with Earl Conrad Hanna and Courtney Morris. The session, sponsored by Epstein Becker & Green, will focus on the insurance fundamentals every life science and biotech startup should understand as they move from research to commercialization. From early lab work and clinical activities to hiring employees and engaging partners, the right insurance coverage plays a critical role in managing risk and protecting your venture. Designed for entrepreneurs, industry professionals, Ph.D. candidates, and post-doctoral researchers, this discussion will provide practical guidance on coverage needs at different stages, common gaps to avoid, and how insurance fits into building a resilient, investment-ready company.

Earl Hanna is a Nashville-based risk advisor and insurance broker for Martin & Zerfoss, Inc. who specializes in healthcare and manufacturing. Earl began his career as a sales manager in the Oncology division at AstraZeneca, where he developed a deep appreciation for how life sciences improve lives. Driven by that passion, he transitioned into the insurance industry as a risk advisor and commercial broker. Today, Earl helps life science companies mitigate risk so they can focus on advancing innovation and development.

Courtney Morris is a Senior Life Sciences Underwriter at The Hanover Insurance Group. She has been in the Life Sciences industry for nearly 10 years. Having exclusively worked in insurance for Life Science companies, she has a firm grasp on not only the insurance world, but also what drives a successful company in this sector.

This session will be available both in person and virtually. Please register for the event, and indicate on the Eventbrite form how you plan to attend. For those attending virtually, we will send a Zoom link shortly before the event. Those attending in person will receive parking information on the day of the event, and are invited to stick around at Epstein Becker Green for a Beer & Biotech networking reception following the presentation (more information about that here). The session will take place on the 9th floor at Epstein Becker Green’s office.
