Wright Medical Group Inc. has launched new two new ankle repair systems that it hopes will provide new surgical solutions for orthopedic surgeons.

Wright’s Ortholoc 3Di Ankle Fracture System and Quickdraw Knotless Soft Tissue Fixation System have just been made available in the U.S. and select overseas markets.

The Ortholoc system uses a series of plates and instruments to match implants with patient anatomy and the type of ankle fracture being treated through surgery. Wright Medical estimates more than 170,000 ankle fractures are treated through surgery annually.

The Quickdraw system is used to ease the suturing process and reattachment of ruptured tendons to the foot and ankle. Its uses extend to surgeries to repair or reconstruct Achilles tendons. There are more than 250,000 of these surgeries per year, according to a company statement. The company is distributing the Quickdraw system through a distribution agreement with Austin, Texas-based ArthroCare Corp.

Wright Medical Group (NASDAQ: WMGI) is a global orthopedic medical device company that specializes in the design, manufacture and marketing of devices and biologic products for extremity, hip and knee repair and reconstruction. The company is based in Arlington, Tenn., just east of Memphis.
